When a container beats a truck
There is a point where hauling it yourself stops making sense. Usually you find that point somewhere around load four, when you realize the bed of your truck holds a lot less than the pile in your garage suggested.
A roll off container changes the math. It sits where you put it. You fill it whenever you have an hour. Nothing has to be lifted twice, nothing has to be tarped and driven across town, and nobody has to be at the landfill before the scale house closes.
That matters more in Amarillo than people expect. The City of Amarillo landfill on Bezner Drive stops taking loads in the late afternoon, and it closes early on high-wind days, which around here is not rare. A container in your driveway does not care about the wind.

What people actually use them for
The jobs that come up most often:
- Remodels. Kitchen tear-outs, bathroom gut jobs, flooring, cabinets, drywall, and all the trim you pulled off and stacked in the hallway.
- Roof tear-offs. Shingle debris is heavy and awkward, and it turns a yard into a hazard fast if it sits.
- Garage and shop cleanouts. The project that was going to take a Saturday and instead takes a month.
- Construction and demolition debris. Job site waste that needs to be gone before the next trade shows up.
- Move-outs and estate work. Furniture, mattresses, boxes, and everything nobody claimed.
- Yard and property cleanup. Brush, old fencing, and whatever the last windstorm relocated.
If you are working through a rental between tenants, look at eviction haul offs instead. If the property needs to be emptied entirely and you would rather not touch any of it, that is a clean out.
Why the city dumpster won’t cover it
This trips people up. The alley dumpsters the City of Amarillo provides are for household waste and general refuse. Construction and remodeling debris is not allowed in them. So the moment your project involves drywall, lumber, shingles, concrete, or cabinets, the alley is off the table and you need somewhere else for it to go.
That is the whole reason roll off rental exists as a service. It is not a luxury for big jobs. It is the only legal container for a category of debris the city will not take.
How it works
You call and describe the job. What kind of debris, roughly how much, and where the container needs to sit. That conversation usually takes two minutes.
We tell you what fits. Container sizes and what they run depends on the job, so call and we will talk through it honestly rather than have you guess off a chart.
We drop it where you want it. Driveway, side yard, job site, alley access. Tell us where and we will put it there, as long as the truck can reach it and the surface will hold it.
You fill it on your own schedule. No clock running in the background while you rush. Work through it at whatever pace the job actually takes.
We haul it off. One call when you are done and it disappears.
What can I not put in a roll off dumpster?
There is a list, and it is worth reading before you start throwing things in, because a container with the wrong item in it can get refused at the landfill.
Keep all of this out:
- Hazardous chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, and solvents
- Liquids of any kind, including motor oil, transmission fluid, and antifreeze
- Paint and paint thinner
- Propane tanks and aerosol cans
- Tires and car batteries
- Asbestos
- Appliances containing Freon, such as refrigerators, freezers, and window units
That last one catches people. A refrigerator is not automatically off limits, but the Freon has to be handled properly first. Ask before it goes in and we will tell you what has to happen.
Everything else in a normal remodel, cleanout, or tear-off is fine. If you are unsure about one specific thing, call and ask. That is faster than finding out at the scale house.
Is it cheaper to rent a dumpster or go to the dump?
Depends entirely on volume and on what your time is worth.
One pickup load of household junk, and you live inside the Amarillo city limits? Drive it out to the landfill. That is the cheaper answer and we will tell you so.
More than a couple of loads, or debris the city will not accept, or a job that will generate waste over several days? A container almost always wins once you count the fuel, the trips, the loading and unloading twice, and the hours. Contractors figured this out a long time ago, which is why you rarely see a job site without one.
Where we drop containers
Amarillo, Canyon, and Bushland, plus the surrounding Panhandle inside roughly a 30-mile radius of Amarillo. That covers most of Potter and Randall County.
If you are a little outside that line, call anyway. If it is close we will come get it.
How soon can you get a container out?
It depends on what is already booked that week. We will tell you honestly what is open rather than promise a day we cannot hit, because a container that does not show up when you planned your weekend around it is worse than no container at all.
Call or text (806) 290-0166 and we will tell you where things stand. If you would rather write it out, send us the details and we will get back to you.
